Interview
Tomorrow Comes Today
Her Goal, issue 7, June 2026 pp.18–23
An interview with the former Everton and Denmark defender whose career ended at 27 after a diagnosis of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. Sevecke describes a 2023 that began with a first World Cup and a move to Portland Thorns, a switch to Roma having collapsed when Italian screening found an irregularity, and ended with test results telling her to stop immediately. Now an assistant coach at HB Koge, a Champions League commentator for Disney and a new mother, she talks about rebuilding an identity beyond playing, the career-ending insurance and players’ union support that carried her financially, and her push for mandatory stress-ECG screening, which she has raised with FIFPRO. She also recalls Everton’s Scandinavian contingent and rates Lauren James her toughest opponent.
