She Kicks, issue 69, October 2021 pp.36–37
The centre spread is given to the Tokyo Olympic tournament, in two panels. Great Britain’s challenge ended in extra-time heartbreak against Australia in the quarter-finals, though the magazine says it was thrilling to watch the squad in action, and pictures them in the blue of Team GB. Sweden were outstanding throughout, but Bev Priestman’s gutsy Canada side prevailed in the penalty shootout in the final, and the larger panel shows them with their gold medals and flowers. It is the issue’s only visual record of a tournament covered at length in the previous edition, and, unusually for a She Kicks gallery, it names not a single player in its captions.
