They Kick: Manchester City Women FC Official Supporters Club
She Kicks, issue 59, March 2020 p.28
Manchester City’s official supporters club describes what following a WSL club home and away actually involves. They have representation at every game, domestic and European, travelling by car share or on coaches they organise themselves and subsidising the cost from merchandise sales so that anyone who wants to travel can. Their practical advice for the Academy Stadium runs to free parking at the Etihad Campus, the Velopark tram stop opposite, and unlimited hot and cold drinks included in the ticket price. Asked what frustrates them, they name two things: fixture scheduling that forces supporters to choose between their club’s men’s and women’s teams, citing the FA Cup finals of 2017 and 2019, and a standard of officiating they feel has not kept pace with the leagues. What they miss most is sleep.
