They Kick: Five FA Women’s Premier League Fans
She Kicks, issue 34, April 2016 pp.45–47
Five FA Women’s Premier League supporters explain what keeps them coming. Young Gillingham fan Bethany Wallbank, who has been to every home game and made cards for the squad, was mascot alongside captain Charlie Thurston and calls it the best day ever. Rob Wilkins caught the bug watching Team GB at the 2012 Olympics in Cardiff and has followed Cardiff City Ladies for three years. Lifelong Hammer Mark Williams recalls Katie Bottom leading West Ham out to Bubbles at the Boleyn Ground before more than 1,700. Gary Symonds was hooked by his first Brighton game and by their ten-nil FA Cup win over Oxford. Eleanor Thomas started going after Bianca Owens scored eight in a match.
