There’s No Place Like Home (Lauren Wade interview)

After a US scholarship, Umea in Sweden and Glasgow City, Lauren Wade came home to Glentoran in April, and says it feels as though she never left. She had scored in a Champions League quarter-final for Glasgow City, a goal she will remember for the rest of her life, and has since played in the group phase for Glentoran, beating Olimpia Cluj for third place in Finland. Injury ruled her out of the Euro 2022 play-offs against Ukraine – the worst feeling she has experienced, with six or seven other key players also missing – and she describes the surreal final whistle at Seaview. She is looking forward to a first Irish Cup final, a first game at Windsor Park, and Wembley in October.
