The She Kicks Locker Room: The Before & After with Natasha Dowie

She Kicks, issue 35, May 2016 pp.56–57

Doncaster Rovers Belles striker Natasha Dowie sets out her matchday habits: porridge or Bircher muesli with berries and nuts, or chicken pasta for evening games, a chilled day reading or watching television, a walk round the lake to Costa, then boots and kit organised at the ground before a calf massage from physiotherapist Stewart Kelman. She keeps no lucky charms, saying you create your own luck, and prefers excitement to nerves, telling herself that giving everything counts as a win. Afterwards she stretches, takes a protein shake, an ice bath and recovery skins. Her recovery day runs to a big breakfast, thirty minutes on a bike, sixty lengths of the pool, a steam and a sauna.
