The She Kicks Locker Room: On The Treatment Table (Keeleigh Savage)
She Kicks, issue 27, April 2015 p.54
Preston North End striker Keeleigh Savage describes tearing a hamstring tendon at the ischial tuberosity, at the top of the hamstring where it attaches to the bone. It began as a minor strain with four games left, and she insisted on playing on strapped and supported, lasting fifty or sixty minutes before hobbling off each time. After four weeks’ rest she was still struggling, and felt it go entirely while striking a shot from 25 yards in a pre-season friendly against Wrexham, scoring in the process. Assessed by former professional turned physiotherapist Mick Rathbone and treated by club physio Steve Halewood with ten weeks of ultrasound and acupuncture, she could do nothing until pain free, and has since returned to running and some training.
