Millwall’s new centre forward, a nineteen-year-old England youth international who captained Arsenal from Under-15 level to the development side, submits to the kit questions and answers them like a collector. She has lost count of her trainers, keeps three pairs of boots, and remembers the luminous orange Magistas she wore in an Under-17 cup final against Aston Villa in which she scored both goals. Around fifty football shirts hang in her collection, the most treasured being a QPR top she wore at ten during a treble-winning season – her first real taste of silverware – and her England shirts. Taylor Hinds has the cleanest boots; she concedes she may be the guilty party on the dirtiest. New socks, she says, are a genuine pleasure.
