England’s left-back takes the kit inventory in her first season at Lyon, having left the north west of England and spells at Everton, Liverpool and Manchester United for the six-time European champions. She owns a shirt from every club she has played for – a fair few – plus shirts from the clubs her partner Jack O’Connell has played for, which is another fair few. Her first kits growing up were Liverpool. She declines, cheerfully, to say how many pairs of trainers she owns. Her essential item beyond boots and shin pads is her lucky sports bra, and the shin pads themselves are made with family photographs printed on them: she has had a successful run wearing them and will not change them, so she concedes they are on their way to being smelly.
