The She Kicks Locker Room: Captain’s Chat with Harriet Scott (Birmingham City)

Birmingham City survived in the WSL with barely a substitutes’ bench to pick from, and their club captain describes leading through it while working hospital wards as part of her university studies. She calls herself a lead-by-example captain, and says the qualities that matter are being approachable, doing the difficult things nobody else wants to do, and knowing when to put an arm round someone and when to push them. Her proudest moment at Blues is what the group achieved despite adversities on and off the pitch. She is generous about Christie Murray, the team captain, whose ability to give advice she would like to have more of, and about Katie McCabe with Ireland. Healthcare, she says, has made her resilient in a team.
