Interview
The Quinn
She Kicks, issue 88, February 2025 pp.48–49
Hamilton Academical captain Megan Quinn discusses calling time on a decade-long career at the SWPL 2 leaders, having made her debut in April 2015 and passed 200 appearances last year. Speaking to Nick Brown ahead of a testimonial match pitting the current squad against a team of Accies legends, Quinn – also a PE teacher and black belt in karate – reflects on nearly quitting the game during a spell balancing playing with a teaching degree in Edinburgh, the influence of long-time mentors Gary Doctor and Paul Brownlie, and the club’s first SWPL 2 title win in 2016. She recalls advice she’d give her 14-year-old self about ignoring doubts from an era when girls’ football faced far less support, and looks back fondly on a decade of dressing-room camaraderie at a club she says immediately felt like home.
