The Ellen (& Jill) Show (Ellen White and Jill Scott Retirement Tribute)

Jill Scott and Ellen White announced their retirements days after She Kicks had put its European champions issue to press, so this is the tribute the magazine could not run at the time: three pages of photographs spanning twenty years, from the 2011 World Cup and Team GB in 2012 to Scott’s 100th cap in 2015 and the EURO final. The numbers are set out plainly, 161 caps and 27 goals for Scott, 113 and 52 for White, England’s record goalscorer and a player who reached ten major finals. Lucy Bronze and Leah Williamson supply the words, Williamson explaining why she handed the trophy to them at Wembley. A reprinted 2012 interview, conducted by their then teammate Alex Scott, has White hoping simply to be remembered as a good role model.
