The Cats That Got The Cream (Mick Mulhern)

Sunderland manager Mick Mulhern was not at Millwall for the 4-0 win that clinched the WSL 2 title, work commitments keeping him at home to follow the match on the radio while staying in constant contact with his management team on the bench. Victory was essential, with Doncaster Belles two points behind but holding a far superior goal difference and thrashing London Bees 9-0 on the same afternoon. Mulhern praises his players for their patience and for sticking to the game plan, and calls the promotion deserved after a side that set the pace from the opening weeks. It is the seventh title of his fifteen years in charge, and he rates it the best of the lot because it puts the club where it wants to be.
