The Big Kick Off: Ice Cool Kat (Katrin Omarsdottir)

Iceland international Katrin Omarsdottir, an integral part of Liverpool’s midfield since January 2013, previews a title defence. Joining felt right rather than calculated, she says, and the club is almost like a family where everyone works for each other. Supporters know Liverpool Ladies more than individual players, though they approach her in kit to say she won the league. Away from football she reads, thinks about how things work and what drives people, and tries to keep up with fairness in society and world events. She notes that as women’s football grows players enjoy the attention but must remember what they are in it for. Her near-free midfield role alongside Fara Williams suits her, and she believes the arrival of Asisat Oshoala can help deliver a third straight title.
