A recap of The Best FIFA Football Awards 2023, staged at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on 15 January 2024 and voted for by national-team captains, coaches, journalists and fans. Barcelona and Spain’s World Cup winner Aitana Bonmatí added the Best Women’s Player prize to her Ballon d’Or and UEFA Player of the Year honours, ahead of Real Madrid’s Linda Caicedo and Spain’s Jenni Hermoso. England goalkeeper Mary Earps claimed Best Goalkeeper for a second year running, fresh off winning BBC Sports Personality of the Year, while Sarina Wiegman won Best Coach for the fourth time. Seven Lionesses were named in the Women’s World XI – the most from any one country – and Brazil icon Marta received FIFA’s Special Award for her outstanding career achievement.
