Profiles of the eighteen-player Team GB squad and its reserves for London 2012, each with position, age, caps, goals and club, introduced by coach Hope Powell. Powell says narrowing the squad to eighteen was very tough given the calibre of players coming through, but that extensive scouting has produced quality, balance and strength in depth, with every player a current international. The squad spans Rachel Yankey’s 119 caps and Kelly Smith’s 111 down to Claire Rafferty’s six, and includes the two Scottish selections, Ifeoma Dieke and Kim Little, alongside Jane Ross. Alex Scott says that looking through the list of talent and experience she cannot help thinking the team has a chance to medal, while Kelly Smith relishes facing Brazil at Wembley for the first time in her career.
