Taking It All In…

A page of photographs taken in the minutes after the final whistle at Wembley, built around Jill Scott’s first words in the mixed zone: that she could not believe it and thought it would be like that for a while. She was not alone. The page collects what the magazine calls poignant and heart-warming snapshots of Sarina Wiegman, players and teammates achieving their dream, thinking of years of hurt and of loved ones, and simply taking it all in. It is deliberately the quiet page of the tournament coverage, sitting between the noise of the match report and the vox pops from the concourse, and it is the closest the issue comes to reporting what winning actually looked like on the faces of the people who did it.
