Tony Leighton talks to the goalscorer who has returned to the Scottish Women’s Premier League with Celtic after starting a family. Julie Fleeting began at her local club Kilwinning to regain match fitness and joined Celtic when Kilwinning missed the top six, finding the players welcoming. At 32, with 116 goals in 120 Scotland games, she would love to play internationally again but says her life is a balancing act. Juggling teaching with football and two daughters while husband Colin coaches goalkeepers most nights is managed with great difficulty and family help; she once missed Celtic training for school and trained instead with a local under-16 boys team containing two of her pupils, who kept calling her Miss. She rates the current Scotland squad the strongest to enter qualifying.
