SWPL Fast Fives: Darcy Molley

Queen’s Park defender Darcy Molley takes on the Fast Fives treatment, rating her teammates for speed, forgetfulness and hidden talent as the newly-promoted Spiders adjust to life in SWPL 1. An SWPL 2 champion in her first season at the club, the 26-year-old full-time physiotherapist discusses the step up in standard, the toll of some heavy defeats, and the togetherness that has kept Queen’s Park competitive against full-time opposition. Molley reflects on wearing the number 14 in honour of her brother, a source of her own football education, and name-checks former Celtic and Scotland youth teammates Colette Cavanagh, Brogan Hay and Jamie-Lee Napier, now established at senior level. A candid look at squad culture during a demanding first season in Scottish football’s top flight.
