SWPL Cup Final 2018: Hibernian 9-0 Celtic

Hibernian took a third consecutive SWPL Cup at Falkirk and did it in a way nobody predicted, beating Celtic 9-0 in a repeat of a final they had won 4-1 a year earlier. Ellis Notley opened with a volley that surprised her more than anyone, and by half time three more had gone in, two of them from Lizzie Arnot either side of an own goal. Shannon McGregor scored within a minute of the restart with a shot she had never managed before, and Arnot went on to finish with five, a year after an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Celtic’s coach said Hibs came out so sharp they simply could not handle it, and his players applauded the winners at the presentation.
