Swans Crossing the Atlantic (Alicia Powe interview)

Alicia Powe, close to a decade with Swansea City, explains how the Welsh club acquired a Canadian contingent and a United States tour. A Swansea-born coach now living in Canada recommended young players to come over and experience football in Wales, and three – Taylor Bubnick, Jacqueline Altrogge and Lauren Cubbon – played a big part in the campaign. The tour came about through a young American who visited from New Jersey the previous summer, and takes in three games against Jersey United Spartans, PDA Soccer and New Jersey Copa FC. Swansea have twice qualified for the Champions League through the Welsh Premier League, travelling to Slovenia and Cyprus, and won the League Cup four-nil against PILCS.
