Super Swiss Gooner (Lia Walti interview)

Arsenal’s Switzerland midfielder is the issue’s cover subject, and the interview works outward from small things. The squad number 13 has no grand story behind it: she was given 3 in her first season at Turbine Potsdam, hated it, saw 13 was free and took it, and it has brought her luck ever since – she wore 9 for Switzerland at the 2015 World Cup and 19 in her first Arsenal season. She is candid about the adjustment to England, where the language, the accent and the speed people speak at all took attention to follow at first, and about the weather. She talks about the players around her at Arsenal and in the Swiss squad, and about coming back from surgery, and what she did not want to hear while she still could not walk.
