Interview
Super Stanway Striding On
She Kicks, issue 51, January 2019 pp.14–17
A four-page interview with Georgia Stanway, still a teenager despite long familiarity, fresh from marking her England debut with a goal in Austria. Phil Neville told her she had done herself and her family proud, and she says she is controlling what she can rather than pinning hopes on France. Stanway admits wanting to play and train constantly but has learned to pace herself across a season. She credits four years at Blackburn Rovers with cementing her love of the game, alongside Ella Toone and Ali Johnson, and describes Nick Cushing’s instruction never to settle. She reflects on bronze and joint-top scorer honours at the Under-20 World Cup, living with best friend and fellow debutant Ellie Roebuck, her parents’ two-hour trips to Blackburn three times a week, and idolising Dzsenifer Marozsan, whose shirt she obtained after facing Lyon.
