Run-of-page feature
Sunshine on San Mamés
Her Goal, issue 1, November 2025 p.43
A single-page feature on Joelle Murray, the former Hibernian captain and Scotland defender chosen by Athletic Club to receive their 2025 One Club Woman award. Murray, now a Hibs assistant coach and a long-time columnist for this magazine, spent 20 years in the Edinburgh club’s first team before retiring in 2024. She describes being contacted via Rangers, accepting immediately, and travelling to Bilbao at short notice to be honoured at Athletic’s La Liga match with Girona alongside Liverpool great Jamie Carragher. Murray recounts meeting the squad, lunching with directors, meeting president Jon Uriarte and walking onto the San Mames pitch to ‘Sunshine on Leith’. The women’s award, added in 2019 to Athletic’s One Club Man accolade, has previously gone to Pia Wunderlich and Malin Mostrom.
