Sunshine On Leith (Leah Eddie interview)

Four pages with the Hibernian centre-half, interviewed by Catherine Etoe, and a candid account of what part-time football actually means. Leah Eddie works full-time as an engineering technical clerk at Petroineos and trains three nights a week, having just bought her first flat; she is frank that against Celtic at Parkhead you can simply see the difference between a full-time team and a part-time one, and refuses to use it as an excuse. She has come back from two ACL injuries, the first at 16, and closed the second comeback by winning Hibs’ Player of the Year and a Scotland debut against Northern Ireland. On versatility she is unshowy – centre-back is home, but she will play anywhere, does nothing spectacular and just does the basics right. A fact box notes her Falkirk birth, earlier spells at Celtic and Rangers, and a cousin, Craig Eddie, who won The Voice in 2021.
