Striking Back and Shooting Forwards (Jodie Taylor interview)
She Kicks, issue 39, January 2017 pp.12–14
Jodie Taylor calls 2016 a crazy year and a really tough time. She played through a knee injury to help England win World Cup bronze in 2015, accepted she would need a patient recovery, then tore her Achilles against the United States at the SheBelieves Cup in March. Transferred from Portland Thorns to Arsenal shortly after, she needed seven months of rehabilitation, including a false start in May when the tendon could not handle the load and the process began again. She returned as a substitute against Doncaster and scored twice, then lobbed the goalkeeper for a surprise England winner in Tilburg. Mark Sampson called her one of the best number nines on the planet.
