Interview

Sophie Ingle

She Kicks, issue SK10, September 2012 pp.14–15

An interview with Sophie Ingle, the Chelsea and Wales player who has just turned 21 and can play anywhere across the back or in midfield. Ingle says she was shocked to be asked to join Chelsea, having not thought about the Super League until Kylie Davies raised it at a Wales camp and Matt Beard rang her, and that she now prefers midfield, where she used to play for Cardiff. She describes the FA Women’s Cup Final as the biggest game she has played in. Her cup final shirt was printed INGEL because Chelsea sent the names by text and predictive text changed it, discovered three days too late to fix, and the nickname has stuck. She names Elodie Thomis as too quick for her and Gwen Harries as her toughest Wales opponent.
