Interview
So Fara So Good (Fara Williams)
She Kicks Special Edition, October 2016 p.65
An interview with the midfielder who in August 2014 became the most capped footballer England has had, of either sex, having debuted at 17 against Portugal in 2001 and passed Rachel Yankey’s 129 against Sweden thirteen years later. Williams tells Tony Leighton she only thinks about the record when teammates remind her, and rules out 200 caps. She names her debut as most memorable precisely because it was a wake-up call, twenty minutes that left her exhausted and aware how much work talent alone would not cover. She describes becoming a game manager rather than the attacking dribbler she began as, names Everton and Mo Marley as closest to her heart, and explains leaving for Liverpool because Everton were not ready to go professional while Liverpool were.
