SK Awards Update

Awards season, and one player took most of it. Despite an ACL injury on the eve of the EUROs, Alexia Putellas won a second successive Ballon d’Or Feminin ahead of Beth Mead and Sam Kerr, and retained the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year award with Mead again second and Alexandra Popp third. Mead had the public votes instead, named England Women’s Player of the Year, BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year from a shortlist including Kerr, Popp, Putellas and Wendie Renard, and FSA Women’s Player of the Year, the first woman to win that twice. England collected an Inspiration award at the Pride of Britain awards and Team of the Year at the BT Sport Action Woman awards. At the North West Football Awards, Ellen White and Jill Scott shared a lifetime contribution award.
