SK Awards: Jersey, Island Games gold medallists

Jersey’s women won NatWest Island Games gold for the first time in their history in July, beating Greenland 3-2, then Hitra 2-1, then Gotland in the semi-final, before sealing the title with a 1-0 win over Aland, who had not been beaten at the Games in ten years. The magazine’s squad-awards format follows, contributed by two players. Kelly Hughes and Candice Parsons are named the persistent latecomers, Catarina Andrade has the fastest feet and is called the female Ronaldo, and Lara Couvert is loudest both audibly and visually. Eve Watson’s gold-medal winner is picked as the best goal, Rosie Corbett as the strongest, and Lauren Quemard as the hardest tackler, opponents having been known to run away from her.
