SheBelieves Cup 2017, Matchday 3: England 0-1 Germany, and the tournament concluded

Germany produced their best performance of the tournament to beat England one-nil in Washington through Anja Mittag just before half time, England taking too long to get going but never being out of it. Karen Carney said she would rather lose to Germany then than at the Euros and learn from it, giving them a lot of respect for their play in the final third while insisting England can match them and have more in the tank. Mark Sampson noted three games in a short time against quality opponents with never a second when England were not competing. France blew away the United States three-nil in the other match to win the tournament, with England third.
