SheBelieves Cup 2017, Matchday 1: England 1-2 France

England led France through Jordan Nobbs’ thirty-second-minute goal and bossed the first half of the SheBelieves Cup opener in Chester, Pennsylvania, before conceding to Marie-Laure Delie on eighty minutes and a Wendie Renard header five minutes into stoppage time. Mark Sampson was incredibly disappointed, saying England had enough chances to finish France off but were not ruthless enough, while praising a first-half balance between attack and defence. He then put his hands up and admitted he made some poor decisions on substitutions in the second half that affected the result. In the other match the United States beat Germany one-nil through Lynn Williams.
