She Kicks Goal Getter: Goal Getter Gemma (Gemma Bryan interview)

Crystal Palace’s striker scored twenty-eight in eighteen league starts and puts it down to assists, team mates who know how she plays, and targets she sets herself – not only a season total she wants to beat, but a minimum number of shots per half, adjusted for the opposition, that she is disappointed to fall short of. If you don’t shoot, she says, you don’t score. She names the four players she owes for the supply, admits she scores almost nothing with her head and hopes to add it, and picks Harry Kane as her current hero despite supporting Arsenal, on the grounds that he has the same passion for scoring. Asked who deserves a shout out, she names the team mate who got her playing again after an ACL tear.
