She Kicks Car Quiz: Sophie Barker
She Kicks, issue SK19, February 2014 p.42
The first in a new occasional series, the She Kicks Car Quiz, inspired by a tweet from Notts County’s Sophie Barker. Barker drives a dark grey Fiat Grande Punto named Paul the Punto after her favourite player Paul Scholes, describing it as reliable, not the fastest, but definitely getting the job done. Asked what personalised plate she would choose, she picks B8rks, being known to all the footie girls as Barks. Her three car essentials are prewrap for tying back hair or holding up shin pads, a football, and a spare pair of boots, since she is forgetful. Living in Lincoln and coaching around Lincolnshire, she commutes 45 minutes to Nottingham for training two or three times a week, passing the time singing along to Whitney and the Spice Girls on her iPod. Her ideal road trip passenger, David Beckham aside, is Karen Bardsley.
