She Kicks Back: Vic Boardman (VB) – from football to triathlon
She Kicks, issue 31, November 2015 p.54
The recurring She Kicks Back retrospective catches up with 31-year-old Vic Boardman, a former team-mate of Dani Murphy at Barnet, who has swapped the UK for Los Angeles and football for triathlon. A box-to-box, goal-scoring midfielder who played for West Ham, England U16 and U18, the Arsenal Academy, Millwall Lionesses, Barnet LFC and LA Strikers, she names the 2011 FA Women’s Premier League Cup Final against Notts Forest as her favourite game, won on penalties after an hour with ten players following Stacey Sowden’s red card. Four separate ruptured ligaments and a broken ankle eventually took their toll, and her last appearance came for LA Strikers against the USA Women’s U19 team in 2012. Boardman reports 12 podiums from 13 sprint races and 22nd of 88 at the ITU Age-Group World Championships in Chicago, and now coaches at LA Premier FC and Granada Hills Charter High School.
