She Kicks a Beat With… Jess Fishlock

She Kicks, issue SK20, April 2014 p.46

Chris Brookes talks music with Wales captain Jess Fishlock for the She Kicks a Beat slot. Fresh from being named player of the match as Melbourne Victory beat Brisbane Roar 2-0 in the W-League Grand Final, the 27-year-old is preparing for another season with Seattle Reign, where she was the first Welsh woman to play professionally in the United States and made the NWSL Best XI in 2013. She describes unwinding by taking a book to a coffee shop, names soft indie rock as her genre with The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons and Imagine Dragons alongside One Direction and Miley Cyrus, and credits Melbourne goalkeeper Bri Davey with educating her in acoustic music. Fishlock is a self-declared karaoke queen with Gwennan Harries, and recalls the pair inventing a wedding song for Helen Lander, now Helen Ward.
