Interview
Sena to a Saint
She Kicks, issue 91, September 2025 pp.70–71
Southampton, WSL 2 promotion hopefuls, brought 18-year-old wide player Kiera Sena over from Cork City in July, and Gina Bagnulo catches her two weeks into life on the South Coast. Living away from home for the first time, she shares a house with Jess Simpson, on loan from Manchester United, and Aimee Palmer, taking turns with the cooking and laundry so that it already feels like home; the hard part, she says, is wanting a hug from family who are overseas and having only a phone call. Her father Jean Sena remains her biggest footballing inspiration, and she looks up to Katie McCabe, a fellow left-sided Ireland international who came through the League of Ireland. She can play full-back, midfield or wing, but loves attacking and scoring. Going professional, she says, means a great deal to young girls back in Fermoy.
