Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup Final: Hibernian 2-1 Glasgow City

She Kicks, issue 36, July 2016 p.9

Hibernian ended Glasgow City’s domestic monopoly at Ainslie Park on 15 June 2016, winning the SWPL Cup two-one with a deflected stoppage-time winner. Julie Fleeting had put City ahead on the half hour before Lucy Graham levelled on 36 minutes and Lizzie Arnot struck in the second minute of added time. Arnot describes chasing the ball down, seeing Sarah Ewens and simply getting a cross in, then watching the goalkeeper dive and the ball go in. Manager Chris Roberts calls it an amazing feeling for a group of players who had taken repeated knock-backs, and says he does not care how the goal went in. It was the first domestic title won by a side other than Glasgow City since 2011.
