Scots Skipper Corsie Proudly Accepts Inaugural Kat Lindner Award
She Kicks, issue 58, January 2020 p.10
Collecting the first Kat Lindner Award for Outstanding Academic and Athletic Achievement, Scotland captain Rachel Corsie speaks about the late Glasgow City forward it commemorates. Lindner, she says, was without doubt one of the best and smartest players ever to play in the Scottish top flight, and a role model and leader she does not think she appreciated enough at the time. Corsie, a qualified chartered accountant now at Utah Royals, credits her own career on both fronts to Lindner’s partner Laura Montgomery and fellow City founder Carol Anne Stewart, arguing they have led the culture of women’s football in Scotland for twenty years. She describes City as a uniquely special club whose graduates stay attached to it, and says it continues to punch above its weight in Europe.
