Safe Hands: Emily Jo Ramsey (Manchester United Foundation RTC)

Fifteen-year-old England Under-16 goalkeeper Emily Jo Ramsey of the Manchester United Foundation Regional Talent Club describes going in goal at six because a boys’ Under-7 team would not let her play outfield, and never looking back. She rates her handling as her best attribute, describes herself as vocal, determined and agile, and names Hope Solo as her role model. Her favourite shirt is the current England black and purple goalkeeper jersey, in which she won her first clean sheet and third cap, and her favourite save came against Liverpool from a free kick twenty-five yards out, tipped onto the bar and followed by claiming the cross. She is the youngest patron of the Just A Ball Game? campaign.
