Round-up: Spain & SWPL Players of the Month

Two short items share a spread. Jenni Hermoso made a tearful return to Spain duty in October’s UEFA Women’s Nations League semi-final first leg after a year-long absence, recalled by new head coach Sonia Bermudez and coming on as a late substitute in the 4-0 win over Sweden in Malaga. The facing page carries October’s SWPL awards: Glasgow City’s Sofia Maatta, the 21-year-old Finnish attacker, took the top-flight Player of the Month after scoring and assisting in a 2-1 win at title rivals Celtic, while Queen’s Park forward Ellie Kane won in SWPL 2 for a fifth time after scoring in a 6-0 rout of Stirling University.
