Redfearn’s Reds Revival (Neil Redfearn interview)

Neil Redfearn made over a thousand appearances as a player and managed Leeds United and Rotherham before winning WSL 2 with Doncaster Rovers Belles by ten points, and he is candid about the moment that shaped his approach to the women’s game: arriving at Doncaster he wondered whether to go easy at first, and decided these people deserved to be treated exactly as he would treat a men’s team. At Liverpool he inherits a rebuild, having lost around ten senior players, and has brought four from Doncaster with him. He talks in constants and variables – a back four and two midfielders who keep you in the game, wingers and strikers who get out of shape to score – and wants to win things.
