Red Alert (Bethany England)

She Kicks, issue 46, March 2018 p.28

Chris Brookes interviews Bethany England, who hit 2018 with six goals in two matches and took the FA WSL 1 Player of the Month award for January while on a season-long loan at Liverpool from Chelsea. The 23-year-old admits being upset at first to learn she was not yet of use to Chelsea, but calls the move a blessing in disguise that lets her prove she is more than a bench player. She explains she prefers the nine or ten role after a spell at left-wing-back, and that playing centrally has restored her confidence as a striker. On growing talk of an England call-up, she describes following Rachel Yankey as a child and a running joke about her surname on an England shirt. She also discusses part-time law studies with an interest in family law, and past jobs in a chip shop, a bakery and Marks & Spencer.
