Rain Or Shine… SK59! (Editor’s Letter)
She Kicks, issue 59, March 2020 p.3
Jen O’Neill’s letter is written in the aftermath of Storm Ciara, which blew the issue to the printers on a wave of floodwater and wiped out every fixture in the top four divisions in England, though some Scottish League Cup and Welsh Premier games went ahead. She had battled a third of the way to Manchester before turning back. The storm, she argues, was a rare and well-forecast event and the FAWNL was right to let clubs decide for themselves – but it should not distract from a more pressing and permanent problem, which is the standard of playing surfaces and matchday facilities for professional and semi-professional players and the supporters who pay to watch them. She leaves the growing row over officiating to her columnists, and wishes England well at the SheBelieves Cup.
