Rachel Williams: hungry for success with the Lady Pies

She Kicks, issue 29, August 2015 p.18

Notts County striker Rachel Williams, joint top scorer in the league at the mid-season break after an injury-hit year at Chelsea, says it feels good to be back playing. She still works as a plasterer alongside football, striking what she calls a nice balance while football always comes first. Goalscoring has never been a source of pressure, she explains, because she started as a midfielder and only became a forward on joining Birmingham, so she has simply always made sure she works hard, scores or creates. She is not disappointed to have missed the World Cup, knowing after her injuries it would take time, though Mark Sampson called her up for a behind-closed-doors warm-up game against China in which she played around seventy minutes.
