Quick Kicks with Kirsty Oliphant (Dundee United)

She Kicks, issue 52, March 2019 p.34

Dundee United’s women’s team was launched in 2016 by then club director Justine Mitchell, won the SWFL 2 East title and the SWFL2 Cup in their debut season, and took the Division 1 title and promotion to the Premier League last term. Experienced defender Kirsty Oliphant gives the lowdown on two promotions in three seasons, saying the expectations were there from the start and crediting a good group of players, strong coaching, the backing of the Dundee United men’s team and the crowds the club draws. Pre-season began on the Tuesday after promotion was won on 21 October, with only a week off at Christmas, and training is going from twice to three times a week with players meeting to run or hit the gym in between. On boots she is loyal: Copa Mundial, good old fashioned defenders’ boots.
