Basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo joined the ownership group at Chelsea Women. The Milwaukee Bucks power forward, a 2021 NBA champion and two-time MVP, announced his investment in February, linking up with his friend, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who acquired a reported 8 to 10 per cent stake in the women’s team last year for around 20 million pounds. In a statement posted to his social-media accounts, the player known in basketball as the Greek Freak said Chelsea’s history speaks for itself, described the move as being about ambition, legacy and pushing the game to new heights, and signed off with Up the Chels.
