Player Interview: Rhian Nokes — In Goal With Nokes
She Kicks, issue SK15, July 2013 p.32
A questionnaire with the Cardiff City Ladies goalkeeper, 24, who has 31 Wales caps after making her debut at seventeen and helped the club win promotion to the National Division in 2010-11. Rhian Nokes names a freezing, rain-soaked game against Sweden at Airbus in north Wales as her best experience in a Wales shirt, the pitch more mud ring than surface but her own performance one she felt good about. Her most memorable Cardiff match is the Welsh Cup final against UWIC two seasons earlier, drawn 1-1 in horrendous conditions, where she saved two penalties in the shoot-out and lifted the cup as captain. Israel and Azerbaijan are her worst destinations, the Algarve Cup her best. She regrets that Welsh clubs could not bid for the WSL, and owns up to a mishandled free kick against Porthcawl.
