Player Interview: Rachel Unitt — Unitts of Success

She Kicks, issue SK08, May 2012 p.8

Tony Leighton interviews Rachel Unitt, the 29-year-old England left back who has won her hundredth cap and left Everton after eight years to join Birmingham City. Unitt describes the landmark game in Croatia as a very proud day, made better by being handed the captaincy and by scoring a diving header, joining Rachel Yankey, Kelly Smith and Fara Williams in scoring on their hundredth appearance, in a 6-0 win. She names playing at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium near her home as a favourite memory, and the 2007 World Cup in China as both her best trip and her lowest point, as the only outfield player not to get a minute. She names Ryan Giggs as her hero, and hopes for a fourth FA Cup winner’s medal with a third different club.
