Player Interview — Nicky Davies

Catherine Etoe interviews the Wales goalkeeper and RAF corporal whose 2013 season was cut short when she was posted to the Middle East soon after signing for Chelsea. Nicky Davies, 27, was picked up by Doncaster Rovers Belles on her return and counts it among the best experiences of her career despite their controversial relegation, praising a team spirit she calls probably the best she has played with and hoping they prove people wrong in WSL 2. A move to Brize Norton near Oxford means she cannot continue commuting. On Wales she is positive about World Cup qualifying, rating the defeat by England one of their best performances. She recommends an RAF career to sportswomen, saying the military actively encourage participation and that she has never had trouble getting time off.
